This is wild. It looks like Google is going to slap an AI chatbot on every business on Google. Native messaging is coming back to Google business profiles, but now with an AI agent that answers questions based on your business profile and your website.
There's also this section saying message ads are coming. And knowing Google, competitors will probably be able to buy ads in your chat messages. And it kind of looks like you can't turn it off.
Reddit is pissed. So just in case we can't opt out of this, here's what you need to know. Number one, ensure your website and Google business profile are accurate and comprehensive because that's where the AI will pull its answers from.
Two, start drafting this welcome message and conversation starters. And most importantly, number three, plan to watch this closely because it is guaranteed that it'll say totally wrong things about your business. Save this post so you're ready when it launches and let me know.
Would you trust an AI to answer questions for your business?
