Another legacy niche blog gets killed by Google. So heartbreaking to see one of the all time great blogs in the website category taken out back old, yellowed by Google. Who is it?
WP beginner. If you ever made a WordPress website, you probably probably came across WP Beginner. It looks obvious why this happened.
It's also something that you can avoid. In Google's defense, it's mostly them listing their own plugins No. 1 on every blog post.
Searchers have gotten tired of this type of content. This leads to poor user signals that Google notices. 6 million clicks a month from Google.
Since then, it's gone down down down, down, down. Now it's at 32,000 clicks a month from Google. Something else you shouldn't do.
The first 2,000 words of all their posts are usually what is WordPress? Why should you blog in WordPress? How to do blog in WordPress?
Then the answer. So after 2,000 words, you scrolling sifting, you'd finally get your answer. This is another trend that used to be really popular in SEO super fluffy blog posts.
People mistakenly thought they needed really long blog posts to keep people on the page longer. You don't need that at all. In fact, it's way better to give your answer fast.
One of the all time great Reddit posts, how adding TLDR boosted conversions by 33% for articles. Added a short 2 to three sentence summary at the top giving The main points right away for product pages, wrote a quick summary of the products, features, benefits, place right under the title, increase conversions by 33%. It looks like WP beginner thought they could fix their traffic problem by putting up more pages.

If you put yourself No. 1 in listicles, do it transparently. Do it with an article that comes off as well researched.
Don't make your No. 1 spot longer than all the other spots in the list. Don't have super fluffy blog posts.
Give the answer right away. Put TLDRs at the top of your pages. If your SEO isn't working, hold off on publishing more pages.
