Google just updated its review guidelines and a lot of businesses are doing this thing that could cause them to lose their reviews. Our good friend Amy Toman posted about this. She talked about the new guidelines.

These are prohibiting restricted content. This is the big one. Merchants requesting that staff solicit reviews that include specific content, including content that identifies a staff member.

That means that the strategy where the employee says, hey, can you mention me in your reviews? Cause we're running some kind of contest and whoever gets the most reviews this month gets a prize, you can no longer do that according to Google's guidelines. So if you were rewarding employees for getting a certain number of reviews, you're going to have to ditch that strategy.

A better strategy is just to reward the whole company when you reach certain review milestones.
