What is the level of understanding that a business owner should have of digital marketing if they hiring someone to do their SEO, their Google Ads or their social media advertising? As I've mentioned in so many of my videos, I come across so many scenarios that there are really dodgy, terrible people out there that are charging an arm and a leg to business owners. They tell them that they're doing great SEO.
They tell them that they're very good at Google Ads and as well they tell them that their social media is just unbelievable. Unfortunately, so many times when we do audits for people, we show them how bad the current providers really are and really that these guys have been taken for a ride. Now part of the reason why I make these videos is I try to educate business owners and people that are hiring third parties to do the marketing for them.
A lot of the stuff isn't as complicated as it might seem and if you don't have at least a basic understanding, people can take you for a ride. The only way that you can prevent yourself really being taken advantage of is that you have to ask the right questions. You have to know at least a little bit about search engine optimisation and also you are allowed to question the agency that is doing work for you.
You should be asking them about results. You should Be asking them for analytics. You should be able to ask them for access into everything.
If you're not asking these questions, you are opening up yourself to be taken advantage of.
