High-capability model work classes

The most powerful AI model ever. Fable 5, is back.

But will it be the same? Is this even important news?

Yes. So let's look at the facts.

So fable 5 has just shown up in my Claude a few minutes ago. It's been re released globally for everyone on a paid account.

And the reason everyone's so excited is it's not just hype, it's significant news. Because the upgrade was so noticeable.

When fable 5 landed three weeks ago, the capability of this model meant that people are finding it so much more able to understand what you wanted and get the job fully done, not nearly done, not half baked. We're talking about entire web projects, big pieces of knowledge work like Powerpoints, reports, analysis.

Basically the stuff that no one really wants to do at work. And it felt like maybe this is AI finally delivering on some of its bigger promises.

But three days later, the US government applied export controls to it. And because there's no real clean way of barring foreign nationals from using it, and Tropic had to just pull it for everyone...

thousand words that it writes. Now obviously it's not as simple as that because everything that it does use as tokens, but it gives you an idea.

It will be interesting to see if this version is any different than what we got 3 weeks ago, or whether it's been quietly downgraded in any way. Hopefully not.

Anthropic are implying that it is the same model, just with new stronger Protection against using it for cyber security purposes. They do warn because of how stringent that routing routing filter is, there will be some false positives and you'll be downgraded to a lower model, sometimes in error.

We'll only really know over the next week or two as we push it to its limits and see what it's capable of. But follow me and I'll keep you updated.
