We have officially entered the post ranking era of SEO. It is not just about ranking on Google. Your brand also needs to appear on ChatGPT, Claude, AI overviews.
And it needs to have a presence on Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, and anywhere else your audience is spending time. Which means that SEO is now about your entire online presence. And here's why.
First, your target audience is searching on all of them. Which is actually a good thing because it means that your brand has way more opportunities for visibility than it's ever had. But second, and the most important one, your visibility across these platforms has a compound effect.
AI does not choose the brands that it mentions based on rankings. It chooses them based on relevance, authority, and recognition. Basically, who keeps showing up when people are talking about this topic?
So how do we make this your brand? You need to stop targeting keywords and start targeting topics. Because people don't type keywords into, they type prompts.
AI tools are not looking for the same phrase repeated 17 times on your page. So you're not gonna publish one page on your website on the topic and call it a day. Instead, you need to build an entire ecosystem around the topic.
We're talking in depth content on your website, top YouTube videos, maybe a cheeky LinkedIn post or two. Digital PR, podcasts, and all of this should reinforce the same expertise on the topic. Don't get me wrong, SEO still massively centres around your website.
You can't effectively do any of this without one. But now it goes way beyond it. And this is the bit that people are missing.
You need to be everywhere.
