You can use Google Search Console to see the exact prompts people are using in AI search to get to your website. Chris Long published about this on LinkedIn. He talks about what to do in Search Console.
I'm gonna show you exactly how to do it. Go into Search Console and click the search results under performance. Set this to 12 months, click Add Filter and query in this drop down.
Change this to custom regex, copy and paste this text, paste it in here, click apply. Now you're gonna see all the long queries people have typed that are longer than 9 characters. I find that some of these might have actually come from a regular search engine, so I like to make the query even longer.
Click the regex, change this 9 to a twenty. Now you get to see really long prompts that people were using to get to your website via AI search. This is great for understanding how people are finding your business via AI search and understanding what they're looking for and identify opportunities for further optimization on your website.
It's also a great way to track if you see more of these queries coming in, helps you kind of understand if your visibility on AI search is growing. I publish content about AI and local search every day. Follow me for more tips.
